Young Entrepreneur: T3 Alaska Student Builds a Web Design Company
Timothy Pearson, a T3 Alaska student from Wrangell, Alaska, and his brother set off on a grand plan to launch a website development company Neek Design. While these plans changed – they moved to Texas and his brother had to hold different priorities, Pearson was undaunted and resilient. Instead of abandoning his dream, he reached out to several people to form a support network of talented people including several peers and T3 mentors to continue building his profession. His ingenuity and determination is paying off. He’s filed paperwork with the government, set up his business, made a solid marketing plan and explored primary technologies he plans to use. Using research as a tool, he’s looked at competitors and pricing, aiming to hit it right in a competitive market.
Pearson’s advantage is his deep connection and roots in his Tlingit and Chippewa cultures and people. Neek in Tlingit means to storytell or literally gossip and so the company brings authentic storytelling and modern web development together. From documentaries to custom websites, Neek Design helps businesses and organizations share their stories with the world. As Alaskan Native youth entrepreneurs, they bring a unique perspective to the creative industry, blending traditional storytelling values with cutting-edge digital technology.
The brother’s journey began with a shared passion for creativity and innovation. Timothy focuses on web development and coding, building modern websites that help businesses and organizations establish their digital presence. Jackson specializes in film making and documentaries, capturing powerful stories through his lens.
Together, they created their first major project – Friendsofanan.org, a comprehensive nonprofit website featuring an e-commerce store, news article platform, and informational hub. This project showcases their ability to create complex, multi-functional websites that serve real community needs.
