Sitka Maritime STEAM Fest | March 10-11

T3 Alaska and the Alaska Workforce Alliance are excited to announce the 2025 Sitka Maritime STEAM Fest, taking place March 10-11! Open to students in grades 8-12, this event welcomes both T3 Alaska participants and non-members. Students will explore maritime technologies, develop a growth mindset, and connect with community members to discover career opportunities in the maritime field.

Event Highlights:

  • March 10 (morning): Classroom presentations on maritime careers at Mount Edgecumbe High School
  • March 10 (evening): On the UAS Sitka is a Maritime Career Expo featuring industry professionals, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities. This event is valuable for students preparing to enter the workforce
  • March 11 (field trips):
    • Behind-the-scenes tour of the Alaska State Ferry Columbia, exploring different onboard departments.
    • Visit to the Allen Marine shipyard, offering insight into vessel maintenance and operations.

STEAM Fest participants can continue their learning by enrolling in an asynchronous online course focused on marine careers and boater safety in Alaska. Completing both the course and a STEAM Fest pre-qualifies students to apply for a four-day experiential field trip to Anchorage and Seward (April 28 – May 2, 2025). During this trip, students will tour a vessel, meet maritime professionals, test their skills on a simulator, and begin the certification process.
