Students must complete the online course to qualify for camp experience. Hoonah and Kake students will be eligible by attending a STEAM Fest in August.

Maritime STEAM Fests

STEAM Fests are open to all students in grades 8-12, welcoming both T3 Alaska participants and non-members. Students will explore maritime technologies, develop a growth mindset, and connect with community members to discover career opportunities in the maritime field. Events are open to the public—don’t miss out!

Introduction to Maritime Trades Online Course

Introduction to Maritime Trades course covers further maritime career exploration, nautical knowledge and  and lay the groundwork to gain industry recognized credentials. The course is both asynchronous and synchronous offering flexibility in scheduling and time management.

  • Class 1: October 13 & October 14
  • Class 2: October 20 & October 21
  • Class 3: October 27 & October 28

Maritime Career Camps

Maritime Camps are open to students who have attended a local STEAM Fest or completed the online “Introduction to Maritime Trades” course. Students will practice new skills, put our goals into motion, and work towards obtaining maritime credentials: TWIC, Merchant Mariner Credential, Boating Safety Certificate, Food Handler’s Card, and more!

  • Juneau Maritime Camp (for Kake/Hoonah) – September 10-15
  • Seward Maritime Camp (for Homer/Kodiak) – November 3-7
  • Ketchikan Maritime Camp – November 10-14
