Galena Builds Momentum in the Makerspace

  • News

Galena’s T3 makerspace is quickly becoming a vibrant hub of creativity and collaboration. The club is celebrating with great turnout—proof that the community is growing together. With each session, new faces join in, and student leaders are beginning to emerge naturally.

Students dove into designing and printing Halloween figurines. The room was filled with fun and focus as designs came to life on the 3D printers. What stood out most was the teamwork—students already familiar with Tinkercad jumped right in to mentor those just starting out. The initiative and peer-to-peer learning happening in the lab have made it a space where everyone feels comfortable to learn, create, and experiment.

Strongly supported by community, Galena is excited to start new builds using the weather station received last year and a new donated windmill from a local parent. These projects will give students a chance to combine design, engineering, and environmental science—all while strengthening their problem-solving skills.

One student has even offered to bring in his personal 3D printer for the lab to use. With the clubs help, we are eager to get it up and running together. Soon, there will be two working printers for everyone to experiment with! There’s a fun, creative energy in the air in the makerspace—proof that innovation and community are growing side by side.
