Big Opportunities, Bright Futures for Our Students

Families in the Lower Yukon and Chugach School Districts can look forward to exciting new learning opportunities for their students. The University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Teaching Through Technology (T3 Alaska) program has launched the Chugach-Yukon FUTURES Initiative, a five-year partnership focused on expanding hands-on STEM learning.
“T3 is excited to support students in the Lower Yukon and Chugach School Districts,” said Adam Low, T3 Alaska Director. “By creating safe, supportive learning environments, students are empowered to explore technology and take on meaningful projects with a growth mindset. Through this work, they build the skills, confidence, and leadership needed to make a positive impact in their communities.”

Through this initiative, students will have more opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that are engaging, practical, and connected to real life. Six schools will be equipped with makerspaces featuring tools like drones, 3D printers, and computers, giving students the chance to build, design, and problem-solve.

Each school will also have a trained T3 Coach who provides a safe, supportive environment where students can explore new ideas, work together, and grow their confidence. These experiences are designed to provide students  with a growth mindset ready to tackle innovative solutions to community challenges.

A key part of the program is the T3 Alaska Hub at Kusilvak Career Academy, where students can participate in summer intensives. These programs offer:

  • Hands-on STEM projects
  • Opportunities to engage with community partners
  • The chance to earn college credit through the University of Alaska
